Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November, and in Canada on the second Monday of October. It was established to memorialize the first harvest festival of the residents of Plymouth Colony in 1621. A characteristic part of the dinner prepared for this day is a roast turkey with a filling of bread and sage. The filling may also include nuts such as raisins, nuts, cranberries and apples, as well as bacon and sausage. Feel the atmosphere of the American holidays with this recipe for stuffed turkey.

St. Martin’s Day is celebrated on November 11. On that day, a street named after the patron saint of the holiday hosts a festival called “Name Day of the Street.” In its present form, the holiday has been celebrated since 1993, but the tradition refers to medieval celebrations. Everyone associates this day with a pompous parade and świętomarcińskirogal, which is some type of a croissants but few know that on this day it is also traditionally eaten…. goose meat!
