Import with a health certificate

Import with a health certificate

Although the ban on poultry imports to Japan has been affecting most Polish provinces since February 2023, the import of poultry products without restrictions is still possible in some parts of the country. The poultry from Poland can also be exempted from the suspension if a proper health certificate is presented.

Over the past several months, the situation around the Polish export of poultry to Japan changed frequently. In August 2022, the embargo was canceled on the entire territory of Poland except for the Wielkopolska region. Next the embargo was extended back to some areas. Since February, the import suspension status has affected 12 regions. However, it is still possible to import the poultry products from the provinces of Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie, Podkarpackie, and Podlaskie.

The poultry meat can also be exempted from the suspension. To achieve that a certain health certificate is required. The certificate should confirm that the product and its packaging were produced on specified dates or before. In addition, confirmation is needed that the meat was stored and processed in a way that prevents exposure to pathogens of any infectious animal diseases.
